Racial Equity Challenge – Tools for Groups

Building Racial Equity is Best Done with Others!

The work of bringing more racial equity, justice, and liberation to our food system requires not only independent study and evolution (though that is important!). Many of us have come to realize that the power of connecting with our friends, co-workers, and peers helps us better understand the complex terrain of race, racism, white supremacist culture, and the ways those intersect with our work transforming the food system.  Together we can learn and act in ways that are simply not possible for isolated individuals.

If you are ready to team up with others at your workplace, school, community group, or other organization, we have assembled some extra tools to help you out.

  • FSNE Racial Equity Challenge Discussion Guide
    • Download the PDF version of the Discussion Guide if you’d like a comprehensive resource on how to organize, invite and host conversations at your school, workplace, church, or other groups. The guide includes some general planning ideas as well as facilitation tips and a sample discussion group agenda you can adapt for your own use.
  • Getting Listed as a Racial Equity Challenge Participating Organization
    • Organizations (such as non-profits, agencies, schools, businesses and other groups) can register to be listed as “Organizational Participants” of the 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge! Each individual should still register with their own email address in order to receive the daily prompts during the Challenge, but organizations can now indicate to the world their support for the work of building equity and dismantling racism in our food system! When registering for the Challenge, at least one person from your organization should answer “yes” to the question about organizational participation. We will update our public list at least weekly and send you some extra reminders about group tools and opportunities for this year’s Challenge.
